This unit was built as Penn Central GP38-2 #7995 in 7/1972, then served Conrail under the same number until the lease expired and the Geep was returned to EMD, where it became EMDX 795 (and worked with a large group of other ex-PC GP38-2s) before being placed on long-term lease to UP where it became UP 1983, then 483. When UP purged its roster of leased power, the unit became LLPX 2289, then finally became GMTX 2289 only several years ago. |
